top Overview

Understanding and working with Maori culture, communities and businesses provides one of the most exciting challenges for the wider New Zealand business community. Increasingly, Maori are assuming management and control of significant resources. Recent legislation, Treaty claims and obligations, consultation with iwi - all require a high degree of understanding and sensitivity. Those organisations that have taken up this challenge are ideally placed to capitalise on the new opportunities and partnerships with Maori business.

This two day Short Course will introduce the proactive general and middle manager to some of the key issues which need to be considered by those who wish to take up the challenge. The Building Sustainable Relationships with Maori Organisations Short Course offers an overview of the important historical factors which underpin New Zealand society and business, as well as a practical range of strategies for consulting and working with Maori iwi, hapu, whanau, and pan-tribal groups and communities.
