Dr Richard Steckel

Dr Richard Steckel has an international reputation as a consultant, speaker and writer on non-profit marketing and for-profit strategic corporate citizenship. Before founding Add Venture Network in 1984, he was executive director of the Denver Children's Museum, which became a national model of the earned income approach to fundraising.

Dr Steckel has worked extensively with many organisations, including Marketing Magazine (New Zealand), Tesco (UK), British Telecommunications (UK), Midland Bank (UK), Westpac Banking Corporation (Australia/New Zealand) and Corbans Wines (New Zealand).

Since 1984, Dr Steckel has developed earned income strategies and products and services for over 200 for-profit and non-profit organisations. He is the co-author of the best selling book, "How to Turn Your Non Profit Fantasies into Cold Hard Cash" and "Making Money While Making a Difference", a guide for corporations on market-driven community involvement.

Richard has successfully presented this Short Course at The University of Auckland Business School since 1999.

His educational background includes a Doctorate from Boston University (1974) , a Master's Degree in Social Work (Community Organisation) from Adelphi University (1966), and a Bachelor's Degree in History from the City University of New York (Brooklyn College, 1964).

Dr Steckel also advises the Consultative Group on International Research and its marketing organisation, Future Harvest. He works with member affiliates in Kenya, Cote d'Ivoire, the Philippines, Mexico, Columbia and Peru.
