Steve Bridges
Steve Bridges has outstanding credentials in both the academic and practical sides of marketing.
He gained an MBA with a major in marketing (Indiana University, 1966), and immediately worked in advertising & marketing.
He migrated to New Zealand, and taught the first marketing course at Victoria University (1970-1972).
He worked for NZ Wines & Spirits & Tullen Industries (1972-1978), then became Reader & later Professor of Marketing at Massey University (1981-1987).
He subsequently worked as a consultant & teacher with a two-year spell at Simpson Grierson (1993-1996).
He lectured for The University of Auckland Business School's Executive MBA as well as Diploma in Business (1989-1994).
He teaches the Marketing Management Short Course regularly, and is consistently rated a truly outstanding presenter by the participants.
Steve Bridges’ name is synonymous with many marketing successes, including Tullen Snips, Villa Maria Wines and Simpson Grierson.
In August 2003, Marketing Magazine introduced a new award to its series of annual marketing awards, i.e. the Marketing Hall of Fame. Steve was one of the four inaugural inductees. In an article about Steve in that month's issue of Marketing Magazine, David McNickel wrote: "Arriving in New Zealand in 1970 from the US state of Indiana, Steve Bridges has been both a pioneer in the field of consumer-focused marketing in New Zealand, and a charismatic tutor. He has directly influenced the marketing career of literally thousands of local marketing graduates."
