Overview

Emotional Intelligence (EQ) is the set of skills that distinguishes outstanding leaders, high performance teams and personal effectiveness. While most of us have an intuitive sense of what this means, few people take advantage of the EQ Practices that can transform career, relationships and wellbeing. Dr Sven Hansen will show you how to understand, engage and liberate the extraordinary power of your EQ.

Two decades of business research demonstrates the hard performance benefits of these soft skills. In leadership, innovation, execution, engagement and wellbeing EQ plays a pivotal role. The core competencies of self awareness, self mastery, social awareness and social skills can be measured and learned. You can enjoy the benefits from day one. With dedication this Short Course will transform your life.

Our EQ & Leadership Model

This Short Course includes a detailed 360-degree Leadership Competency Assessment. With specific feedback from manager, peers, direct report and clients, you start with a clear measure of how well and where they are applying EQ skills. This baseline assessment allows you to target your learning and customise a development plan to achieve your goals.

With the help of the 360 Feedback, the diversity of your class and the global experience of Dr Sven Hansen, you are guided into the inner world of leadership and influence. You will learn how emotion drives human behaviour, influences our wellbeing and shapes our thoughts. With leading edge insights from medicine, psychology and neuroscience you will discover simple, powerful practices that help you recover your life, renew your leadership and engage your people.

Topics Covered

Emotional Intelligence (EQ) gets under the bonnet of leadership theory. The Short Course starts engages a mix of presentation, case studies, personal reflection and sharing.  As the Short Course progresses there is an increasing focus on group dialogue, coaching skills and practical applications in real world business. There is time for reflection and a strong focus on defining personal practices and development plans that will deliver results.

Part One: Science, practice and frameworks for EQ
You will learn what personal perspectives and practices drive success in leadership, influence and effectiveness. We begin with a brief overview of the current science and best practice in emotional intelligence, resilience and mindfulness and why they underpin success. We demonstrate how body, heart and mind can be awakened, mastered and aligned.

Part Two: Self awareness and self mastery
Beginning with the 360 Feedback, “know thyself” is the key theme.  With accurate self assessment, you are able to define their strengths and challenges.  With the assistance of evidence we explore and define the practices of impulse control, emotion regulation, thinking styles, reframing and presence.

Part Three: Empathy, Social Awareness & Influence
Again with the support of the 360 Feedback, you explore the tools and practices through which we can deepen our understanding of others and what motivates them. Then we progress to leadership styles and how leaders can vary their styles to optimise performance in changing conditions.

Part Four: Integration and Development Planning
In conclusion we will look at what organisations are doing to link EQ into the  resilience of their people, products, processes, communities and the planet. You will be challenged to consider how these ideas could be applied to your workplace and team. We finish with your presentation of a short development plan.
